He founded Apricot Consulting in 2003 following a distinguished career in the not-for-profit and business consultancy sectors. During this time he was part of the executive team of Medibank Private (Australia’s largest Health Insurer) as well as conducting consulting work for other major Australian corporations and not-for-profits. He was appointed CEO of the Australian Football League (AFL) Foundation from 2006 to 2008.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Derek studied at Monash University, earning his undergraduate degrees in Theology and Economics and a Master’s degree in Sociology. Derek moved with his wife, Brenda, to New York in 2008 to develop Apricot Consulting in the USA.

James’ background has included senior roles in corporate and not for profit settings. He also has experience working with large global clients. James has an Executive MBA (Distinction).
Head of Operations & Consulting at Apricot Consulting brings over 20 years experience in delivering projects. Jocelyn is an experienced consulting manager and project management professional with an extensive delivery record within Australian and international consulting organisations.
Rebecca has more than 10 years in HR across industries ranging from financial services, non-profit and most recently as Group Executive for a high growth technology company. Her passion lies in building highly engaged cultures and environments that embrace new ways of working and enable people to flourish. She has a successful track record of delivering creative people solutions, leading and managing the people elements of transformation change and designing employee experiences that attract and retain a millennial workforce.
Christopher has worked for more than 30 years domestically and overseas focusing on risk management, governance and controls, assurance and operations. He has a blend of experience that comes from delivering services both as an external advisor and as a line executive responsible for substantial business operations.
His professional experience includes partner roles with PwC and KMPG, and Chief Risk Officer at National Australia Bank. He has lead both small and large teams on complex and straightforward engagements with both direct oversight and consultative capacities. His experience includes extended time periods in Australia, China, the USA and UK.
He currently serves as Apricot’s CFO alongside serving clients as a consultant and executive coach. Chris utilises his financial and leadership expertise to help clients tackle major issues such as change management, operational process improvement, strategic planning and fiscal policy.
Chris also serves as the board chair for YMCA Australia, Board Treasurer for Son Centre Christian College and provides counsel on property development matters for The Salvation Army.
Susan With more than 15 years experience working in the higher education and non-profit sectors, Susan develops individuals to reach their full leadership potential creating healthier teams and organisations.
Prior to joining Apricot Consulting, Susan worked in the United Kingdom and the US in both professional and volunteer roles in fundraising and program delivery. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Pepperdine University and a Masters degree in Leadership from Azusa Pacific University.
Based in Los Angeles, Susan is a certified by the Connective Leadership Institute to deliver the Achieving Styles Index which measures leadership behaviours and culture for both individuals and teams. She is also a Certified Facilitator of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology and loves to see teams solve complex problems through hard fun using this play methodology.
